Holiday Dressing Made Easy

December 8, 2019

It’s funny to me because every year I want to do so much for Holiday dressing and end up coming short. Either I get lazy since I have to be dressed up all the time or I just simply have other things going on. I decided to make it a point to put together a Holiday dressing made easy post featuring outfits that can easily be worn to a variety of events. From Holiday/ Christmas parties to NYE to a cocktail event with friends to an engagement party.

Statement Accessories

One of the easiest ways in my opinion to make an outfit more festive is to add statement accessories. For this particular look I paired a pretty black dress (think one you already maybe own in your closet) with some waterfall sparkly earrings (these are really inexpensive from H&M) along with a vibrant chain bag and a pop of color with these faux snakeskin burgundy knee high boots. There are so many pretty black dresses out there that I know people keep in their closets for said occasions but it’s always fun to spice them up a bit with an unexpected accessory. All of the pieces here I wear on the regular (both casually and dressed up) but I think the piece that does the most for this look are the earrings. While these aren’t ones I’d wear non stop they are definitely perfect for more dressy events.

I also decided to take a more interesting approach to my makeup. In the past I’ve really kept it safe when it came to dressing up for holiday parties but makeup can really make things look interesting! I was actually inspired by a Zara look that had a similar swipe of glitter across the top crease of a woman’s eyelid. I did a bit more of a dramatic take on it alongside some winged liner but I think it did the job.

A Sparkly or Silky Dress

This one seems a bit obvious and while in the past years (ie. since my 21st birthday) I haven’t worn a sparkly dress I just thought about how fun they photograph and how vibrant they look. I think the key here is to find an interesting cut of the dress to make it more fun. Silk dresses are also just as amazing and I think doing a silk dress or suit set would be perfect for any holiday event. What I love the most about having really beautiful textures like this is that they photograph so nicely and while that’s not of all importance I think its a fun way to remember those exciting events you were attending!

I paired this particular look with more toned down makeup and kept it simple with a gold shimmer lid and liner. I think since the dress itself made such a statement that I’d leave the makeup to something more minimal. I also did some simple messy waves in my hair to make this outfit seem dressy yet effortless (I hope).

Throw a Giant Blazer On It

Last but certainly not least, a blazer can really bring an added dose of masculinity to any look. Oversized blazers with shoulder padding specifically is a great piece to throw over a really feminine dress for the Holidays. In this case I have this gorgeous white dress that has a super feminine look. Since a lot of holiday events can be outdoors or involve some walking, an oversized blazer is a great option to throw on over your dress to give you an added edge as well as keep you warm.

This particular blazer is a vintage one from wonderful shop on Instagram you can find HERE. This particular blazer is great because it feels more formal than others I’ve come across. The lapel really makes it stand out along with the buttons so I knew it would be perfect to wear with this particular look.
