Why You Need More than 1 White T-Shirt

January 4, 2019

Ok so I had an epiphany the other day as I was shopping and cruising through Instagram I always seem drawn to white t-shirts. I mean, most of us are I think, they are extremely versatile and not to mention basically look good on everyone. Now I’m the person who literally has a stack of t-shirts in her drawer that are all white tees. The big question I always had in the back of my mind as I oo’d and awe’d at these t-shirts I was seeing online was..wait, don’t I already have enough white t-shirts?

WRONG-O. You can NEVER have enough white t-shirts (well I mean maybe you can if you have like over 100). Brands are still able to create white t-shirts and actually make some money off of them because there are so many different ways you can design them for a handful of different ways to wear and style them. I really feel that having 5 staple white t-shirts is the perfect number (more is fine as well but 5 to me is probably the most reasonable number)

Cropped Tee

The cropped white t-shirt is one of my favorites, the main reason being you can wear them with high waisted pants, skirts, or jeans and you don’t get much “bulge” from tucking. I also love these for layering with a cute maxi dress.

Mens/Oversized Tee

One of my next favorites is the mens/oversized tee. There are so many great versions of this but one of my favorites has to be Jung Maven. They create the softest most worn out feeling shirts that feel like they’ve been washed over 100 times. I love wearing these shirts tucked into vintage Levis or for any kind of low cut bottoms since they add more coverage. You can also wear these tied up for another cool look.

Fitted White Tee

While in recent times women’s t-shirts have advanced past the fitted cap sleeve style there are some great fitted white tees that I actually love for wearing with certain pieces. For one they are great if you are wearing something like a pant suit since it adds a little more shape to larger pieces like a blazer. I also love them for wearing under overalls (again, a baggier piece). Balancing a more fitted top with a baggier bottom is the main way I wear these tees.

Graphic White Tee

While this isn’t exactly a “plain white tee” it definitely fits the category. I have a handful of graphic t-shirts that I absolutely love wearing. One of the main ways is with a pair of my favorite denim jeans and a somewhat matching denim jacket (Canadian tuxedo). But a graphic white tee also is one of the looks I’ll wear when going out with a pair of skinny high waisted black denim jeans , heeled booties and a leather jacket.

Classic White Tee

I think the title of a “classic white tee” has a lot of connotations but for the most part I think it’s a tee that isn’t oversized but isn’t fitted, one that fits your frame but has a little give for comfort. I guess the goldilocks of your white t-shirts haha. This is the tee that can pretty much go with anything, whether you are traveling on a plane and wearing sweats, wearing in the summer with shorts, or throwing on with a pair of black trousers and heels for a night out. You HAVE to have this one in your closet because ultimately it can be worn with any of the outfits I suggested above. This is the shirt that won’t let you down.
