Candles & Coffee Table Books

May 13, 2020

I’m excited to share some of my favorite candles & coffee table books today seeing as how I’m becoming more and more obsessed with collecting both! I never really invested in coffee table books prior to my current home but there’s something about the look of these books plus being able to pull them for inspiration at any time is always welcoming. Not to mention I’ve been so great at burning candles lately since we’ve been indoors a lot more. I love how it makes the house feel welcoming and instantly give you a warm and cozy feeling. There are a ton of candles I’m loving at the moment and a few I have on my WANT list so let’s get to it.

Candles

When it comes to candle scents I ALWAYS lean towards sandalwood or any musk type scents. I love how they make my house smell and they just seem to really calm me down. Aside from that the vessels they are in are also a nice touch when candle shopping. Year & Day makes an amazing refillable candle that has a few various scents. What’s great about it is that the wax just slides out when it’s done and you can buy a new candle to slip inside of it or you can use the vessel for other things, in my case for q-tips in my bathroom. There are also a ton of really “aesthetically pleasing” candle brands like Byredo, LeLabo and Diptique that not only have incredible scents but the candles are worth the spend, they last really long and burn nice and SLOW. You really can’t ask for much more when you are dropping $70-$100 for a candle. Aside from the spendy styles I also love local brands like Roen candles that make their candles in LA and there have been a few brands I’ve picked up over the years in little shops that were also handmade.

Coffee Table Books

This is a subject that I really didn’t think was worth the time/effort. But after awhile and the more I got into home decor I realized that coffee table books are really amazing to have on hand. Not only are the books well made but they have some of the most incredible imagery. They call them coffee table books for a reason because the exterior is just as beautiful as the interior, making these sometimes the center piece of tables, bookshelves, or nightstands. My most recent purchase was KATE: Photographs of Kate Moss which is a book published with amazing never before seen images of Kate. The book not only is perfect to sit on my coffee table but the inside imagery is perfect for incorporating into content images for Instagram etc. There’s something about picking up a book to find inspiration vs. browsing the internet that feels so much more inspiring.
