Favorite Accessory Trends

March 16, 2019

I tend to talk a lot about my favorite current trends, stores, etc and that’s all good but we can’t forget about a good accessory trend when we see one. Lately I’ve been really loving creating content around some of my favorite accessories right now and I felt the need to share my feelings haha. That is what this platform is about right? Well that being said here is a short list of things that I’m a big fan of right now and a few options to purchase some of my selects as well!

Chunky Chain Jewelry

It’s funny how my jewelry preferences seem to change from minimal, to vintage, and now to chunky. I love the look of a super chunky necklace paired with an oversized blazer and slick back hair. Adding a larger statement piece to a really chic and structured look just makes me super happy.

Baguette Bags

Ok so baguette bags are back and I am HERE FOR IT. This is such a 90s cool girl / model looking bag with a short handle and small rectangular shape. It fits perfectly in your underarm area, just far enough to not be shoved in your arm pit but also not long enough to have your elbow awkwardly out a few inches from your body. I think my favorite baguette has to be the Fendi Zucca print but newcomers like By Far and Little Liffner are also coming in with their versions that include both vinyl (think Prada style) and smooth and croc embossed leathers. While I haven’t secured my baguette bag yet I have a few of these on my want list and I’m going to definitely pull the trigger on one in the coming weeks!

Leather Scrunchie

Scrunchies are back and my mom couldn’t be more thrilled considering whenever she wears her hair up (which is only when exercising) she can only use scrunchies since they don’t pull at your hair like rubber bands do. Now I was never a real scrunchie girl, probably because my hair was just never long enough to even make sense for a scrunchie. But nowadays while my hair is still short I have a newfound love and respect for them. Especially faux leather ones. I think they bring a sense of elegance and edge to the traditional scrunchie and you can find a lot of ways to wear this both casually and somewhat professionally. Now if only my hair would grow a little faster…and thicker.

Tube Socks with Sayings

With sneakers on the continued rise (especially with the inclusion of the “dad” sneaker) everyone is looking for ways to continue elevating and taking advantage of this trend. Socks are probably one of the easiest ways to differentiate yourself from all the other dad sneaker wearing folk out there. I especially love tube socks right now and while you can never go wrong with good ole Nike tubes I have to say some of these designer printed socks are bringing me a lot of joy. It’s just a slight twist to the traditional tube sock but it can elevate your style a whole lot as well. Thanks to dads everywhere who have rocked New Balances and Hanes tube socks since day 1.

White Tights

As I’m sure many of you know, I am slightly obsessed with my Gucci tights I got back in January. Now I originally wanted a black pair but I just couldn’t resist when she pulled out an off white colored pair (also they were out of the black pair). White tights while traditionally thought of as the tights you wore as a child for your family Christmas photo at JCPenny has definitely found it’s way into modern fashion. I gotta say I really like the look positioned with maybe a lime green body con dress and oversized blazer? Man now I need to find a lime green dress haha.
