I spend most of my days in my car, at my desk at my day job, and in my house. Needless to say it’s not the most inspirational schedule considering my work as a blogger. It’s so easy for me to get wrapped up in wanderlust, envy and jealousy when I see my friends who live in LA, San Diego, or any other exciting city living their best lives on the daily.

Reality is, this can’t be everyones reality. You create your own paths in life and so long as you follow it you’ll find a way. Unfortunately following your ideal path isn’t always the most logical. I’m 100% an overly logical person and it bites me in the ass a lot of the time. Being as that may, a lot of my readers and friends are in the same situation as me so I need to remember I’m not alone. I will admit, I don’t live in the most boring city, I actually live in the heart of Orange County with the beaches only 15 minutes away and amazing historical buildings and shops just 15 minutes in the opposite direction. Either way, I get hooked into being uninspired every here and there and have to find a way to get back in the game without the perks of traveling or being invited to fancy events. It’s not always easy but I’ve found a few ways to get past it.

For those of you who aren’t able to travel often or are looking for an inspirational boost outside of Pinterest, here are a few of my tips.

1. Google Earth
This might sound weird, but I really love to sit on Google Earth if I’m staying in for lunch on workdays. This is actually how I find a lot of my photoshoot locations is through Google Earth. I’ll basically start from my current location or areas within reason for me to hit up during lunch and before or after work and see what I can find.

2. Explore New Places with New Friends
I’m at a point where all of my friends and I are at various points in our lives. Not all of them even close to being the same. I really love that about my group, we all have something new or knowledge of something we can bring to the table based on where we are in life. Exploring new places with different friends is really enjoyable to me. Also it’s fun to have new people take photos for me (sounds narcissistic I know) because it really does give a cool new perspective on my imagery. Sometimes having a friend who takes a really blown out blurry shot is the one that gets me the most inspired.

3. Go Thrifting
One of my favorite past times is thrifting. Unfortunately I have about 0 time to spend doing it but I used to go to a huge Goodwill by my old work during my lunch breaks when I needed a bit of inspiration. My old office didn’t have a lot around it that was fun to venture to so this was my way of getting new styling inspiration as well as challenging myself to find pieces I could bring into my wardrobe. I’m definitely needing a trip coming up so I can find some blazers!
