Keeping it California cool this past weekend with these amazing new cropped striped crepe trousers from Brandy Melville. I love the subtle pin striping that will make it easy to pair with a band tee or white tshirt as the summer months approach.
When my closet gets a little dull and I’m looking to add some spice into some old pieces because, come on, we all can’t afford a new set of clothes every week, I tend to shop for accessories. For a year or so now I’ve been looking for a cute baseball cap to add a casual look to some of my city sleek looks. Unfortunately I have an odd shaped head and my face (and hair) doesn’t always agree with standard baseball caps. Luckily I came across Scotch & Soda during my trip to South Coast Plaza over Black Friday weekend. Might I add as well that I majorly SCORED on Black Friday and you’ll be seeing some of my purchases coming up (don’t worry I also bought tons of Christmas gifts as well).
I woke up this particular morning feeling very casual as I was going to be spending the day out and about so I threw on some black raw hem denim skinnies, an oversized button up and my handy dandy faux leather bomber jacket. The baseball cap really seemed to top it off. I can’t wait to wear this hat alongside some of my wrap coats and my biker jacket with some dresses! There’s nothing I love more than mixing and matching edgy, girly, and masculine pieces.
Denim for awhile, was my worst enemy. Something about being constrained in pants wasn’t my cup of tea. After a year or so of wearing “jeggings” and tights with shorts, skirts, and dresses something finally clicked bringing me back into my love for jeans. These Articles of Society denim have a great universal wash, enough spandex to wear when lounging around, and they are nice and soft. I styled them with my favorite tee at the moment (Dicaprio FTW) and my New Balance kicks to give a very casual look perfect for running around in..literally. I’d recommend grabbing a pair of these babies, they have some great cuts and washes and are at an incredibly reasonable price. Styling denim has become a lot more fun and having a cool pair of sneakers really makes a difference in getting the perfect athletic yet stylish look.
Spent a really really….really warm February Sunday out in the Arts District in DTLA this past weekend. I must say I’m accustomed to the fashion district as well as Melrose all too well but this was an incredibly quiet and peaceful trip in comparison. Spent the day coffee and food hopping while grabbing a few blog photos in between. Being used to the struggles of LA parking we decided to walk everywhere which wouldn’t have been an issue in 70 degree weather but the warm 82 degree day was a little much, not to mention no one really told me the Arts district actually HAS street parking readily available to you.
Knowing it would be a tad on the warm side I decided to finally wear my new lace insert cami from Tobi. I’ve been searching for the perfect lace lingerie style cami to pair with some of my boyfriend jeans this spring and this was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I love the feminine lace touch on the top so I decided to pair it with a few masculine pieces that include a pair of trousers and my New Balance kicks. As you know I’m a huge fan of Athleisure styling which I think adds a fun touch to toning down a dressed up look. Not to mention it makes it really easy to walk around town searching for coffee and pastries. Luckily the entire look was incredibly comfortable since the trousers have a loose fit on top and are fitted towards the bottom.
There’s something about a pair of trousers I just can’t get enough of. Sleek and sophisticated simplicity. The tailored fit of these pair make them so incredible, not to mention I really prefer having thin straps compared to some other rather bulky ones adds some girlish figure to a rather boyish style. I grabbed this pair from one of my favorite shops at The Lab in Costa Mesa, CA called Lobby. They have a great selection of amazing pieces that are the perfect mix of monochromatic and simplistically detailed items. I’m a huge supporter of buying simple pieces (in black and white apparently) that can be mixed and matched with your current wardrobe. I have the difficult task of buying clothing that can be worn both to work, and on the weekends so mixing crop tops with tailored trousers provides a great mix.
Always have to be looking at the big picture when you’re shopping on a budget and with a few minor dress code rules. On a side note, I apologize for the lack of detail in my photos, this weekend my parents had to borrow my Camera so I have been strictly working off of my iPhone. Hoping to get back into the game this week!
Here’s a quick post from the weekend, unfortunately my camera was out of commission so I stuck to a few quick iPhone shots.
I have had a recent obsession with white sneakers lately as my “athleisure” clothing collection grows. While I juggled the idea of Addidas and Converse I decided to find the perfect medium with these Topshop leather sneakers. They have the perfect mix of a slender build, like Converse, and the more athletic appearance of Addidas. I paired them with my Free People overalls and my cowl neck top from H&M. I am in love with anything crisp and white along with a boxy fit and this top gave me everything and more. A little on the pricier side for H&M but you pay for what you get, and that’s quality.
I am excited to extend my fall wardrobe with turtleneck sweaters, leather skirts, and mule loafers. Just a few things on my wish list that hopefully will make an appearance here 😉
