I’ve recently been attracted to matching denim sets but haven’t found the exact matching pair (it’s a lot harder than it looks). While this isn’t exactly a set, I was able to find two perfectly paired pieces with the same color stitching to create my own! The white denim jacket is from Urban Outfitters as part of their new BDG Denim launch. I decided to add some color into the mix with a vintage inspired Tommy Hilfiger tee (from Urban as well) and my favorite, and I mean FAVORITE clear strappy heeled mules from Zara.
Happy almost 2017! I’ve been reflecting a lot during the Holidays as well as stressing. A New Year always feels good, refreshing, and a great time to get a new start however the end of a year can seem overwhelming, stressful, and seems like time is running out to get everything you need finished. I’ve been blogging since 2012 and it’s been a whirlwind. This year I saw real growth on all fronts of my blog plus, I achieved my major 2016 goals, attending Fashion Week and traveling more. With trips to San Francisco, New York, Florida, and Big Bear, it really was a year to look back on with pride.
Staying cozy this past weekend in Big Bear with a few favs from Urban Outfitters. I decided to take a mini getaway with my husband and into some cooler weather. This was actually my first trip up to the mountains and I have to say it was incredible. Cool mountain air and relaxation was exactly what I needed.
Diem Cami – Urban Outfitters | Thrifted High Waist Denim – Calvin Klein | Western Tip Belt – ASOS | Flat Leather Shoes – Zara | Case of the Ex Thick Fabric Choker – LaModa | Overnight Celebrity Zip Front Backpack – LaModa
Went for a real 90s inspired look for thrifting this past Sunday out in LA. I purchased this black cami crop top from Urban Outfitters and haven’t looked back! This piece is perfect to pair with skirts (as seen here) as well as high waisted denim or trousers.
Finally took the plunge and purchased this button down corduroy skirt in black from Urban Outfitters. It’s been a great piece to pair with sweaters, button ups and some off shoulder tops. Transitioning from day to night is made real easy with this little number. Today I paired it with one of my favorite new pieces, this soft mock neck sweater that tucks perfectly into the slight high waist of the skirt. This is one of the greatest pieces you can purchase as a staple in your wardrobe. You can make it more modern or keep it classic with the 70s vibe.
I also have been wearing these heeled mules by Shelley’s London with my everyday wardrobe. They are exactly what I look for in everyday heels, not too high and they are also slimming on your leg. It’s finally getting a little chillier here in So Cal so I’m very excited to pair this skirt with some of my tights and knee high boots for evenings out!
Summer is just about over and I can feel Fall creeping in. Especially in retailers. I’m a huge fan of purple/plum tones for fall, and for some odd reason I’m transitioning into color as fall approaches, sorry about it summer. I grabbed this windowpane tunic cross front top from Urban Outfitters and it lays perfect on the body. It also adds some class to any of your high waisted pieces whether they be skirts, trousers or shorts. Now while I mention I’m adding “color” into my wardrobe please note I’m still leaning towards the darker colors but hey its a step in the right direction. I paired the blouse with my latest addition to my skirt collection (slowly growing) this little envelope style wool mini skirt from Aritzia. Let me tell you, during my short visit to San Francisco I was shocked, nay, amazed to find an actual brick and mortar Aritzia store so of course I had to buy a few things…
You might say this outfit looks a little uniform like but what better way to welcome everyone back to the school months of fall than with ankle socks and loafers?
You know those days when your in between a jacket or a sweater? The sweater is a little too casual and your jacket is a little too thick? Well compromise is here, this olive green lightweight collared jacket is here to save the day. Built like a shirt, the cotton material is lightweight yet thick enough for transitioning from day to evening. Also the sleeves easily roll up just in case the day surpasses 80 degrees. I was a little skeptical about the olive green color but I really wanted something different that would stand out instead of the typical army green color. I am a true believer that leopard and green are neutrals, they just haven’t been officially welcomed into the neutral family! The length of the jacket is also a perfect piece for high waisted or regular waist pants, skirts, or trousers.
I threw on my favorite summer lace tube top from PYLO and a pair of my high waisted skinnies for running around town for some quick errands. Hopefully you guys were also lucky enough to get the 3rd off!
I’ve never been much for a hat person until about a year ago, now, I don’t know what I’d do without them. Talk about the perfect solution to a bad (or flat in my case) hair day. After hopelessly searching for a more structured panama hat I came across the Gambler hat I have on but in grey. A few clicks later and I’m the proud owner of this beaut in taupe! With the recent rain and cold front in SoCal (thank you mother nature) I was able to pair my hat with a few simple staple pieces like my wrap coat and raw hem skinnies that, yes I cut myself. There’s just something I really enjoy about letting my ankles breathe.

I have this problem of always buying boots or heels throughout the year. It is great for 80% of my life but when spring and summer roll around you start doing a lot more traveling and walking which isn’t always great for heels or closed toe shoes (especially with the sunny California weather). I’m really bad at making the decision to buy sandals since I assume they are limited to the summer months. I only have one pair that are fashionably appropriate (not flip flops). But low and behold, some of the latest sandal trends having been cruising through my mind and inspiring a lot of outfit ideas, including those for fall! Here are a few of my favorites, all $70 or less from Urban Outfitters.
Perfect for a printed sun dress and some big sunnies.
Grab those high waisted shorts and a crochet top and you’ll be festival ready all summer long.
The Caged Sandal
I’m a fan of these since they have the illusion of a small cut out boot. These are great for some high waisted trousers and cropped top.
Every girl should have a pair of glitter sandals or a holographic pair. They are so fun to spice up any basic outfit. Plus, they second as somewhat “formal” shoes. Just incase you aren’t in the mood for heels (guilty).
Printed Canvas Sandals
Pair of boyfriend jeans and a white v-neck. Enough said.
I have styled this mesh jersey top from H&M in an earlier posting but decided to take a different route today to show it’s versatility. In my previous post I paired this jersey with some high waisted shorts and DC tennies, taking the jersey somewhat literally as we also shot the pictures on a baseball field. This jersey trend isn’t just for the ballpark however, today I transitioned the top into a chic and somewhat professional look for work. These black high waisted denim jeans from Urban Outfitters was one of my better purchases last year. The dark wash allows them to be disguised as “dressy” for work but when paired with a cropped top you can easily slip into a more casual overtone.
Accessories are what finish off this look. Gold, gold and well…more gold. Gold accessories are my favorite when I’m pushing a monochrome look. Adding a gold chain to a jersey top helps us understand why football players and baseball players wear those ridiculous gold chains around their necks, because it really does play off the jersey quite well. Maybe it is just the ridiculous notion that athletes make millions of dollars by throwing balls at one another but hey, it’s entertaining right?
