Femme Forever T-Shirt – TopShop | Moto Mini Denim Skirt – TopShop | Logo Leather Belt – Gucci | Canvas Old School Vans – Vans | PomPom Basket Bag – Zara
Ok guys so I’m so excited for this Spring weather! It’s been so nice in Southern California and I have been preparing with a little shopping binge via TopShop. They have had so many great pieces coming out recently I knew I needed some to sneak into my wardrobe. Sometimes there’s nothing better than doing a little shopping. I have been inspired ever since visiting Paris so I opted for some pieces that are casual yet bold, in true Parisian style.
As Fall and Winter are coming in hot (literally) here is my list of must have boots and this seasons trends. Enjoy!
Floral Ankle Boots – A huge trend is literally the Mary Poppins bag / your grandmas old curtains fabric made into adorable ankle boots. I know it might be hard to picture what kind of outfit you can pair with this but let’s just envision an oversized white button up, fitted mom jeans and these boots. Enough said.
Glitter Boots – Let’s talk about spicing up your shoe game with some glitter. Perfect for Holiday parties and for ringing in the New Year, these are pure statement shoes and are meant to be worn as such. Dress them up or down, that’s the beauty of these babies!
Loafer Boot – We can’t deny that loafers are definitely having a moment, but now combining them with a traditional ankle boot? Mind…blown. Personally I’m a HUGE fan of them as you can see from the ones I’m wearing above via Roberto Durville are a great addition to my wardrobe PLUS they are just so unique looking that they immediately spice up an outfit. I also just love how classic loafers look and make you feel so placing them on a boot is a MUST for fall.
Lace Up Boot – Last but definitely NOT least is the lace up pointed toe boot! I’ve definitely seen a few of my favorite bloggers like Danielle from We Wore What sporting some Dior babies but for those of us on a tighter budget it’s nice to see some more reasonably priced pieces coming onto the market. My favorites are currently by Grey City and called the Waverly Boot. They give you a tiny lift in the heel but the pointed toe and lace up action really elongate the leg and make these the perfect boots to wear with dresses, pants or skirts of any length. The leather is SUPER soft and make them easy to break in. I definitely can’t get enough of this style boot. It has an edge yet femininity to them and that’s definitely my aesthetic 😉
Ribbed Funnel Neck Swing Sweater – TopShop | Guess Jeans – Thrifted | Pile Coat – H&M | All Star Sneakers – Converse | Pieces Tote with Front Pocket – ASOS
There’s nothing I enjoy more than a giant knit sweater, especially one with a mock neck and thats navy! I’m really loving the change up my wardrobe has been having lately with the addition of fun colors and textures. Navy is one of my new loves and this TopShop sweater was a serious steal over Black Friday plus its the perfect bit of oversized knitwear without looking too swallowed up. It’s also a tighter chunky knit so I’m not freezing when the wind blows. On this particular day I decided to pair my comfy sweater with an equally comfortable pair of thrifted Guess boyfriend jeans. Top it all off with a pair of white converse and my latest teddy bear coat obsession which I haven’t taken off since this cold front has entered So Cal.
Hope you lovelies are having a great week, I seriously can’t believe its almost Christmas! I’m definitely getting some last minute shopping done. Luckily I have a ton of creative friends who are able to make some fun and unique gifts when I”m at a loss (and budget).
Lace-Up Nautical Top – TopShop | Flared Clean Wash Jean – Forever21 | White Blazer – H&M Target | Taupe Strappy Heel – Forever21
A crowd pleaser and crowd favorite, the striped tee. This one however comes with a little twist, or should I say tie. The lace up detailing made this one a no brainer purchase (not to mention you have a little more encouragement when shopping in Vegas). I’ve noticed a depletion in the tops & blouses category in my closet, while I love the ability to throw on a t-shirt, sometimes I need something with more detail and draws more attention. This look as you guessed it was inspired by the recent 70s revamp we have seen this season! You can go ahead and say it, again with the 70s mantra? But seriously I just can’t help myself. Porter magazine also gave me some serious inspiration hence for the silk inspired neck tie (thanks sis). When your jewelry ain’t cutting it a silk printed scarf is a great alternative. Also I am still madly in love with my wide leg denim, just don’t tell my 15 year old self I went back ok?
There’s something about a pair of trousers I just can’t get enough of. Sleek and sophisticated simplicity. The tailored fit of these pair make them so incredible, not to mention I really prefer having thin straps compared to some other rather bulky ones adds some girlish figure to a rather boyish style. I grabbed this pair from one of my favorite shops at The Lab in Costa Mesa, CA called Lobby. They have a great selection of amazing pieces that are the perfect mix of monochromatic and simplistically detailed items. I’m a huge supporter of buying simple pieces (in black and white apparently) that can be mixed and matched with your current wardrobe. I have the difficult task of buying clothing that can be worn both to work, and on the weekends so mixing crop tops with tailored trousers provides a great mix.
Always have to be looking at the big picture when you’re shopping on a budget and with a few minor dress code rules. On a side note, I apologize for the lack of detail in my photos, this weekend my parents had to borrow my Camera so I have been strictly working off of my iPhone. Hoping to get back into the game this week!
Been obsessing over these Friend of Mine Suzie Blue overalls for quite some time. After stalking them online I finally made my decision to go with the white pair after Urban Outfitters threw them on sale. I grabbed a size 2 and they have an amazing fit compared to the pair of shorteralls I picked up at the flea market (very roomy in the leg). Can’t wait to wear these over summer with some fun printed cropped tops. Today I paired them with my new Madewell button up, Topshop HYDRATE pool sliders and Cleobella Leena Backpack. Side note regarding the backpack, the shape is incredible, and the pocket can be taken off and interchanged giving you the ability to switch up your bag AND an extra clutch for those evenings out.
I have a mean case of Tartan on the mind. These pieces are such great essentials for winter and fall. If I could buy the middle look in time for Thanksgiving I definitely would but alas, I think time has been cut too short for this one. I’ll hopefully find a different alternative but I believe I will be sporting as similar a skirt as I can find and pairing it with a nice warm sweater.
I’m really getting into the fall mood lately. I just purchased this MinkPink Zippora Jumper (shown above) and I can’t wait for the air to feel crisp again. Currently I am lusting over tan and dusty pink over coats and baby blue fuzzy sweaters. Who would have thought baby blue would be such a fall color but it makes me even more excited for winter to come. I am also thinking of getting a sherpa lined moto jacket in the near future. My favorite piece I own is my H&M leather jacket but I would love to have one more winter appropriate.
For those of you who don’t use Polyvore I would highly recommend it. If you are like me and cruise around online sites getting inspiration or window shopping it helps to get all of your ideas down onto something legible. PLus it makes it easy to share with others
It’s finally Friday which means I can indulge in some printed denim at work! This Galactic print is so fun and exciting I kept my top half mellow with a chiffon blouse from Foreign Exchange and my LA Hearts Bralette from PacSun. You can’t really tell but the bralette is actually holographic which I thought would look rad with my new silver heels from Zara. Printed denim really makes me feel a tad bit wild and I think a lot of my coworkers agree.
My entire wardrobe has made a complete 180 degree turn in comparison to a year ago. While I still indulge in a sometimes tasteless and overly revealing cropped top, graduating college and entering the workforce really puts a damper on your “free dress spirit”. Balancing work and school gave me an outlet to express myself without limitations while attending classes and bringing out my dressier side for work. It’s a difficult route for a fashionista considering you get inspired to wear certain things on certain days which might not always be deemed “appropriate” to stuffy corporate America.
I have really tried to embrace a new outlook on “work attire” and have been inspired by the Resort 2014 collections, specifically Rebecca Taylor. I have also noticed a few bloggers taking on this route, in particular Sincerely Jules and We Wore What caught my attention for their daring colors, smooth textures, and matching pieces.
