Zara Basics

Had the perfect weather on Saturday for big coats and little skirts. I have gradually been transitioning my closet into basic pieces that will stand the test of time. After going through a ton of old clothes from high school/college I have realized that just because you have space for things doesn’t always mean you should keep them. Decided to play down the shortness of the skirt with a baggy t-shirt and keep my legs looking lengthy with these heeled boots. My name is Stephanie and I have a Zara addiction.

Green Leather

So as you might have already guessed…I chopped off all my hair! I feel lucky to be one of those individuals who isn’t super attached to my hair. I’m constantly bored with my cuts so going short just seemed the right move, it’s a vicious cycle. Either way I really like it and hopefully it will reflect well in my style.

Just a quick post today, I received this jacket for Christmas after almost making the purchase a few months back but turning back on it. So glad my mom kept it in mind for me! I am obsessed with leather jackets and the green just really seems to pop for fall/winter. What you can’t see in this picture is the back of the jacket which sits higher up on your back and crosses over. Will definitely be posting more of this jacket when the time comes considering we were losing light quickly today! I also grabbed these boots from Zara with the gift card Nick got me for Christmas. Although they are a size too big they are incredibly comfortable and hits in the perfect spot to wear with mini dresses this spring!

Lingerie Style

I finally found the perfect lingerie style dress at H&M right before Christmas and just had to have it. What you can’t see is the lace accents on the top of the dress but I wanted to show it’s versatility with layering. I threw on my UNIF shredded shredded sweater over it and voila, you have some edgy fun.

I also found this amazing lightweight speckled blazer at the thrift store during my last visit. I must say for $10 it doesn’t disappoint.

NYE Inspo

I wanted to share with you guys a little NYE inspiration since I know it is quickly approaching for all of us. Now normally we all run to sparkly skirts, dresses, or even cropped tops but for myself I thought hey why not change it up. I bought this flirty little romper a few months back and of course I haven’t had anywhere to wear it. So to give it more of a Hollywood Glam look I threw on my faux fur collar (which by the way was an amazing investment) and a little brown belt.

Of course I also had to add a little something black so I paired the romper with some black accessories. The main one being this chic Oil Slick Envelope Clutch by Winky Designs. What I love most about the clutch is that it includes a really thin chain that allows you to make it into a cross body. If you’re like me, you won’t be able to keep a purse under your arm or in your hands for an entire night.

Be sure to check out their site for these rad envelope clutches, fashion watches, and more! They are having 25% off their Oh So Clutch! collection and free shipping until the end of the year. Also if you find something else that draws your eye use the coupon code UNCONSCIOUSSTYLE13 to receive 10% your order (expires January 1st at midnight).

American Gold

Finally back on my blog game. It’s been incredibly crazy with the Holiday’s and end of the year shenanigans at work. A few weeks back I took a trip to LA for the Spanish Moss warehouse/sample sale. I am pleased to announce I picked up this little fringy number after pulling a ton of other items which ended up being no-go’s.

I usually don’t frequent sample sales just because I don’t live in the LA area but this one was relatively mellow. At one point however another girl was giving me the evil eye because she had the same exact dress on hold which had mysteriously gone missing. After 3 times of explaining that this was not her dress (mine is missing the top button) she backed down…a bit.

I paired this dress with a recent thrifted coat purchase. I stepped into my local Goodwill looking for a 70s style furry coat and low and behold this baby just happened to cross my path. Although the fabric is a little cheesy and it sheds (a lot), it was still worth it. All I need is a pair bell bottoms and I’ll be the spitting image of Jackie from that 70s show!

Cha Ching

First off, not being able to blog as much lately has really been a downer. I truly miss sharing my everyday looks with all of you. Be sure to follow my Instagram for more frequent updates. It is more evident every single day that I am becoming a shopaholic. These insane black friday, cyber monday, and sample sale deals have drained my bank account. But with these amazing sales, I was finally was able to purchase something from Reformation this last weekend and I couldn’t be happier. This is the softest sweater I have ever had the pleasure of slipping my arms into. One of the main reasons I love their pieces are the sheer simplicity of design and the fact that they are constantly bettering their impact on the earth by using surplus fabrics and green practices in production. I am proud to say that I am officially a #RefBabe.

I also apologize for the lighting and blurred photos in advance. I think it adds a little something extra but it was not originally planned. I will be shooting tons of looks this weekend so prepare for some higher quality.

Faux Fur Sure

Currently can’t get enough of this faux fur collar I purchased last week. It’s the easiest and simplest way to turn any jacket into a complete fur fest without having to commit to full time fur. I also picked up this slinky little number of a dress at Forever21, velvet maxi with two front slits is definitely the interview with a vampire look I was shooting for. I’m pretty sure this will be my “go-to” dress when I’m struggling to find something to wear out.

On a side note, I went to the Spanish Moss sample sale today and was really overwhelmed with all of their beautiful pieces. Ended up walking away with an adorable black dress so stay tuned for a glimpse of that! I’m really saving up my funds for For Love & Lemons sale on December 8th. Mark your calendars for that one!

Holiday Party Guide ft. Shop Akira

I had the pleasure of collaborating with ShopAKIRA and their AKIRA label which included this beautiful Slub Knit Mid Dress. What drew me into this dress so quickly was the potential it had for all of those upcoming Holiday parties/get togethers I know that most of us will be attending. I was inspired by the beautiful backdrop directly outside my boyfriends house and used the burnt reds and deep yellows of the leaves as part of my outfit.

The benefit of a midi dress during fall is you get a little bit of leg action but depending on where you are in the country or world you can easily throw on a jacket or even add some cute nylon socks to get the warmth you need. I threw on my structured blazer to keep with the dresses femininity and found (after hours of online searching) the perfect fur collar to pair it with. If you can believe it, I found this one for a steal at Cost Plus World Market. Can you say fall fur is in full swing? I also chose an easier shoe route by putting on my Sam Edelman booties (also purchased from ShopAKIRA) instead of heels but if you want to get the most out of this dress I’d recommend a pair of heels.

Leopard Cropped

Not sure if everyone was aware but Nasty Gal had an amazing sale last week and I couldn’t resist grabbing a few tops. Animal print is always a good thing, especially if it’s leopard, and this cropped knit def fits the bill. I also am in love with these ankle boots which I also grabbed during an insane clear out of Shop Akira’s sale section. I think anyone would spare $30 for these puppies considering they are 1) Sam Edelman 2) Actually comfortable 3) True to size.

This look was somewhat inspired by what seemed to be a rainy day looming in the distance. Kept it sporty with the leather track pants but the stomach action definitely helps balance out their puffy-ness. I also threw on my trench coat I got a few years back for Christmas to give me peace of mind on the off chance it started to sprinkle. Weather update: there was no rain, but thats so-cal for ya.

Winter Whites

I have been obsessed with matching pantsuits but have always strayed away because I must admit I’m not a huge fan of certain trousers, they just never seem to fit me right. So when I came across this white blazer from H&M I knew it would be a perfect match with my Hudson jeans. I really love mixing the structured top with skinny bottoms. Thus far I have only owned boyfriend blazers and although they are amazing to pair with dresses and other fitted items, having a more feminine blazer really makes me feel put together and a little sexier.

On a side note my sister is such an amazing artist and she wanted to do a little piece for my blog so voila! I honestly think it looks better than the actual picture. I’m thinking of including a lot more of her artwork onto my blog so stay tuned! Feel free to checkout some of her other work here. She is always looking for freelance gigs!
