American Gold

Finally back on my blog game. It’s been incredibly crazy with the Holiday’s and end of the year shenanigans at work. A few weeks back I took a trip to LA for the Spanish Moss warehouse/sample sale. I am pleased to announce I picked up this little fringy number after pulling a ton of other items which ended up being no-go’s.

I usually don’t frequent sample sales just because I don’t live in the LA area but this one was relatively mellow. At one point however another girl was giving me the evil eye because she had the same exact dress on hold which had mysteriously gone missing. After 3 times of explaining that this was not her dress (mine is missing the top button) she backed down…a bit.

I paired this dress with a recent thrifted coat purchase. I stepped into my local Goodwill looking for a 70s style furry coat and low and behold this baby just happened to cross my path. Although the fabric is a little cheesy and it sheds (a lot), it was still worth it. All I need is a pair bell bottoms and I’ll be the spitting image of Jackie from that 70s show!

Cha Ching

First off, not being able to blog as much lately has really been a downer. I truly miss sharing my everyday looks with all of you. Be sure to follow my Instagram for more frequent updates. It is more evident every single day that I am becoming a shopaholic. These insane black friday, cyber monday, and sample sale deals have drained my bank account. But with these amazing sales, I was finally was able to purchase something from Reformation this last weekend and I couldn’t be happier. This is the softest sweater I have ever had the pleasure of slipping my arms into. One of the main reasons I love their pieces are the sheer simplicity of design and the fact that they are constantly bettering their impact on the earth by using surplus fabrics and green practices in production. I am proud to say that I am officially a #RefBabe.

I also apologize for the lighting and blurred photos in advance. I think it adds a little something extra but it was not originally planned. I will be shooting tons of looks this weekend so prepare for some higher quality.

Faux Fur Sure

Currently can’t get enough of this faux fur collar I purchased last week. It’s the easiest and simplest way to turn any jacket into a complete fur fest without having to commit to full time fur. I also picked up this slinky little number of a dress at Forever21, velvet maxi with two front slits is definitely the interview with a vampire look I was shooting for. I’m pretty sure this will be my “go-to” dress when I’m struggling to find something to wear out.

On a side note, I went to the Spanish Moss sample sale today and was really overwhelmed with all of their beautiful pieces. Ended up walking away with an adorable black dress so stay tuned for a glimpse of that! I’m really saving up my funds for For Love & Lemons sale on December 8th. Mark your calendars for that one!

Holiday Party Guide ft. Shop Akira

I had the pleasure of collaborating with ShopAKIRA and their AKIRA label which included this beautiful Slub Knit Mid Dress. What drew me into this dress so quickly was the potential it had for all of those upcoming Holiday parties/get togethers I know that most of us will be attending. I was inspired by the beautiful backdrop directly outside my boyfriends house and used the burnt reds and deep yellows of the leaves as part of my outfit.

The benefit of a midi dress during fall is you get a little bit of leg action but depending on where you are in the country or world you can easily throw on a jacket or even add some cute nylon socks to get the warmth you need. I threw on my structured blazer to keep with the dresses femininity and found (after hours of online searching) the perfect fur collar to pair it with. If you can believe it, I found this one for a steal at Cost Plus World Market. Can you say fall fur is in full swing? I also chose an easier shoe route by putting on my Sam Edelman booties (also purchased from ShopAKIRA) instead of heels but if you want to get the most out of this dress I’d recommend a pair of heels.

Leopard Cropped

Not sure if everyone was aware but Nasty Gal had an amazing sale last week and I couldn’t resist grabbing a few tops. Animal print is always a good thing, especially if it’s leopard, and this cropped knit def fits the bill. I also am in love with these ankle boots which I also grabbed during an insane clear out of Shop Akira’s sale section. I think anyone would spare $30 for these puppies considering they are 1) Sam Edelman 2) Actually comfortable 3) True to size.

This look was somewhat inspired by what seemed to be a rainy day looming in the distance. Kept it sporty with the leather track pants but the stomach action definitely helps balance out their puffy-ness. I also threw on my trench coat I got a few years back for Christmas to give me peace of mind on the off chance it started to sprinkle. Weather update: there was no rain, but thats so-cal for ya.

Winter Whites

I have been obsessed with matching pantsuits but have always strayed away because I must admit I’m not a huge fan of certain trousers, they just never seem to fit me right. So when I came across this white blazer from H&M I knew it would be a perfect match with my Hudson jeans. I really love mixing the structured top with skinny bottoms. Thus far I have only owned boyfriend blazers and although they are amazing to pair with dresses and other fitted items, having a more feminine blazer really makes me feel put together and a little sexier.

On a side note my sister is such an amazing artist and she wanted to do a little piece for my blog so voila! I honestly think it looks better than the actual picture. I’m thinking of including a lot more of her artwork onto my blog so stay tuned! Feel free to checkout some of her other work here. She is always looking for freelance gigs!

Knee Highs

Haven’t worn my knee high’s in awhile. We had excellent weather this weekend which means knee high socks and blazers. All items shown are pretty much recycled from my closet but I enjoyed pairing my Roxy blue fedora with the rest of my monochrome madness to add a little touch of fall (Roxy is having a family and friends sale at the moment with additional 30% off so don’t miss out on that!). I also brought these insane JC’s back into rotation, they make my legs look incredibly long and lean when paired with these socks. Makes me want some knee high boots even more now, anyone else agree?

Thank you so much to Timex who sent me this rad watch to feature! I think sometimes we forget about these classic watch brands but their new collection is super rad. The band on this one is a cool silver mesh material which makes it appear more like a bracelet than a watch.

Beanie Weather

This is probably one of my favorite looks. Short dress, tights, big jackets and a beanie. I had a co-worker ask me how large my closet was considering she’s pretty sure every time she sees me I’m wearing something new. Fact of the matter is I just try and utilize what I own and re-visit old clothes that after being retired for awhile seem fresh and new. Sometimes I get in a rut after window shopping and becoming so indecisive on what I want to purchase next I like to make new outfits out of what I already own. It’s almost like some sort of therapy I swear. (Also helps if you are trying to budget)

On a side note, if you want people to continuously stare at your shoes make sure they are metallic and reflective. Having them pointy also helps.

Zippora Jumper

Nothing like a Saturday at the beach! I kept it nice and cozy in my new MINKPINK Zippora Jumper. I had been eyeing this sweater for awhile but unfortunately with only limited retailers selling this Australian brand I was having a difficult time finding it in a small. After a few hours of researching I finally found it on ShopAkira for a fraction of the cost compared to other online retailers. I was beyond stoked! The sweater is super soft and a tad oversized which makes it a perfect beach look. I paired it with a black skater skirt and some pointed booties for a little shopping, relaxation, and delicious breakfast burritos.

UNIF Hardy Sweater

UNIF Shredded3

Lately I have had this strange obsession with smiling in my pictures. Might be because it was my birthday weekend which included Disneyland, mickey waffles, giant glasses of sangria, beer, and carving pumpkins; or maybe not. Finally adding another piece to my UNIF selection that isn’t a jacket. I must say as much as I enjoy their graphic tees I have never purchased one, when I actually pull the trigger on purchasing I stick to their cut and sew goodies. This way I’m turning these classic pieces into an investment since their prices can be a little high for those of us “ballin on a budget”. I had my mom order this when Dolls Kill was having their 30% off sale on all UNIF items so thank you to Dolls Kill for this wonderful birthday treat.

These Tildon booties were also a great weekend surprise when I stopped into Nordstroms Rack. I had been eyeing these bad boys online a few months back but I wanted to try them on first. (Pointed toe shoes can either be very good or very very bad for us size 8.5-9 ladies) So it was an awesome surprise when I found them here in my size! I would recommend stopping in ASAP, the shipment my store had gave me about 4 different pairs of shoes I would/should have bought.
