Hot weather means all black? Well yes, if it means thin backless tops and crochet shorts. My favorite go-to summer outfit always has some sort of Brandy Melville piece associated with it. I somewhat regret not buying these shorts in white, the crochet detailing was much easier to see on a lighter color but what can I say, I just love black too much! If you haven’t noticed already, these boots are giving me everything right now, and although ASOS lagged by 3 extra days on my shipping it was well worth the wait. These boots will be featured in many of my upcoming posts so be patient while I over wear them!
P.S. My tan lines are still out of control from the X-Games, don’t judge.

This past Friday Nick and I celebrated the union of two friends in San Clemente, CA. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful with an old spanish style surrounding, muted floral tones and plenty of small strung lights. I decided to wear my new Greylin chambray suit that was graciously gifted to me after winning an Instagram contest. I never usually partake in those kind of Instagram activities but the suit really caught my attention. It’s hard for me to find a suit jacket that sits comfortably on me without making me look too boxy. Luckily this chambray material is light and fitted. The two are not only great together but will work amazing as separates. I can’t wait to see their new collection!

I have been on a search for a pair of the perfect boyfriend high waisted jeans and on my last trip to the Melrose Trading Post I found a pair of Gap Denim from a lovely seller whom also has an Etsy shop (NightAfterNight) that you can find here. After a short debate on choosing a pair of Guess white washed jeans I decided to go traditional with the blue Gap pair. These jeans are perfect to pair with cropped tops, body suits, and some flowy button ups! Know that it is ok to do baggy on top and bottom, just ensure the top piece is light enough to flow close to your body and pair with a slinky pair of high heels to help elongate your look.
A special thanks to Taylr for playing my photographer for the day! Make sure to check out her Tumblr for more of her work!

I’m no flower expert but I’m almost 90 percent sure these are daisies adorning this thrifted romper I picked up this past Sunday at the Melrose Trading Post. While I’d like to imagine they are sunflowers, the print is just as adorable. The detailing on this piece is amazing, the front has a sweetheart top with buttons trailing down while 2 laced up sides allow you to make the romper a bit more fitted. While this was sized as an 8 I had enough confidence to know that somehow I could make it fit. The baggy legs give the illusion of a dress but hey I can’t complain, at least I can sit on the floor with my legs crossed. Expect some additional pictures in this little number this coming weekend along with some other pieces I grabbed at the trading post!
If you haven’t already, make sure you stop by the Melrose Trading Post which goes on every Sunday in the Fairview High parking lot. Entrance is $3!

A little beach inspired for all of you gypsies and mermaids out there. Sometimes all you need is a crochet cropped top, flowy skirt, and layers upon layers of jewelry. I purchased this crochet cropped top from Brandy Melville and this was the first time I got the chance to wear it! Finally the weather prevails and I can bring it out from hiding. Although I’d prefer the straps shorter I can’t really complain considering it was EXACTLY what I was looking for in a crochet top.
On a side note, had an awesome lunch at Bear Flag in Newport. Lemon buttered Yellow Tail with roasted veggies and rice… enough said. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live so close to the beach. This little spot has an amazing view, we had some fun taking pictures of all the cute little sail boats.

As the weather continues to fluctuate through Southern California I am given the difficult task of dressing for both warm and overcast weather. Being within the confines of my work Biodome and it’s also fluctuating weather patterns has also proven difficult, where do I draw the line? I took a risk today by wearing a pair of floral printed trouser shorts. If the fact that I am wearing shorts is at all brought up I can at least mention their material gives them the “corporate” portion while the length gives them the “casual” side. If you couldn’t tell already, I am in love with printed bottoms. I believe they are something every girl (or guy) should indulge themselves in. Even if you are not a fan of prints, buy a pair of fun solid colored bottoms to spice up some of your everyday blouses.
P.S. I recently purchased this wonderful black blouse from the Conscious Collection at H&M. The material has the perfect weight to help it flow onto my body yet maintain it’s structure which has been seemingly difficult to find for me lately.
On another side note, I’m in dire need of a pedicure, I apologize for the naked toes! Happy Friday!

Theres something about silky shorts and leather that makes me crazy. I’m on a hunt for a pair of shorts similar to the beautiful ones by Lover but are unfortunately not within my budget constraints. Along with pairing it with something structured like the leather top above, I would love to pair it with a few of my soft flowy tops from say Brandy Melville. These boots from Zara are on my “to buy” list and should be mine within the next few days.
Basics with a little flair are especially great to buy if you are running on limited funds. The pieces above may appear basic but the various textures and subtle details are what make them perfect additions to your closet. Happy Thursday!
I was graciously given a pair of these Supra Skytop shoes to style and instead of doing one outfit post I figured why not give three options to show their immense versatility. We all love the high-top look but a lot of times women feel they can’t pull them off. To that I say, nay! There are plenty of ways to wear these shoes for various occasions and to fit differing styles. The three looks I have included are, in short: trend, dressy, and casual.
Trend – For this look I stayed clean and classic with a sporty inspired look. I paired my white mesh jersey top from H&M and an old pair of white cargo shorts. To give the look some edge I threw on my H&M leather jacket and my Zara leather lunch bag purse. With clean white looks I love to add a splash of leather which in this case, jacket, bag, and shoes are a match.
Dressy – Time to ditch the heels for your next evening out. This look is inspired for your next date night or casual bar hopping with the girls. Throw on a skirt or dress with a short hemline, add a dash of statement jewelry (just a dash please) and a fun clutch. The Skytops give an illusion of a boot but with a little more street style.
Casual – For an easy way to wear these Skytops all you need is a pair of leather pants/leggings,muscle tee, and a beanie (if the weather allows it). I got this tank awhile back at Forever 21 and I must say I wish I was able to wear it everyday, or at least to work. Muscle tanks have to be one of my favorite pieces to wear on a hot day.
Be sure to grab a pair of Supra Skytops for yourself here and be on the lookout for more from Supra Women’s in their Fall 2013 Lookbook!
I am seriously in love with these new Zara sandals I purchased on sale. The simplistic straps and the metal work caught my attention immediately! Good thing too because I think these went fast online. I paired them with an H&M dress I purchased awhile back. I love the mesh overlay and if you look close enough, the embroidery includes butterflies and skulls :). The overcast weather forced me into my Cotton On army green shirt but I’m not one to complain, I like how the green of the jacket and the metal within the shoes gives me an industrial look of sorts. I love nothing more than to pair a frilly dress with some stern accessories to give it some edge!

Feeling a little dressy and a little dark today. Paired my Pacsun Kendall & Kylie cropped top with my LA Hearts bralette. To make the outfit a little more work appropriate I layered the bralette underneath. This is my absolute favorite maxi skirt. My sister purchased it from a thrift store and personalized it for me by cutting some slits into it. There’s something incredibly sexy about a little side slit action although, it’s funny to think that if I were to cut the skirt where the slits start it wouldn’t be half as sexy. The skirt material is extremely soft and silky, perfect for these hot days at the office!
