As you guys have seen, ASOS is one of my one stop shops for the coolest brands and just pieces overall. It’s a great alternative to traditional fast fashion spots because they not only house their own internal brands but also a ton of other cool up and coming designers. I remember a few years back when I was first introduced to House of Sunny I really wished they were housed at a retailer that had more reasonable US shipping rates. Low and behold only a year or so later they popped up on ASOS! I’ve been introduced to a ton of European designers I probably wouldn’t have known prior.
I apologize for the lack of posts. Being sick plus the gloomy weather makes for lazy outfit days and low motivation to take pictures. I have been inspired by all the new fall lookbooks that have been popping up. Trousers and menswear are high on the list of must-haves. I dug around my closet to come up with an interpretation. These Forever21 trousers are not only a great color but has an incredibly comfortable low rise fit. The v-neck is PINK by Victorias Secret, not my first place to look for a soft tee but you come across some fun surprises when you have a gift card to spend! I threw on my oversized camouflage jacket to add a fun print and considering it is made for men, it added that touch of menswear I was looking for. Mixing these neutrals was a lot of fun and although it took me away from my usual “all black everything” I still enjoyed putting it all together. Happy Wednesday!
Had some fun at the driving range this morning and afterward Nick and I cruised to Downtown Orange for lunch and a little window shopping. This Quiksilver Women’s top just screams “takin it easy” so it fit pretty nicely for our laid back day. I also think I’ve worn my Zara flats 5/7 days this week but hey, at least I’m getting more bang for my buck.
With Summer rapidly approaching I’m sure many of you are preparing for at least one vacation getaway set in a sunny spot. Whether you are taking a weekend trip to Palm Springs or heading over the pacific to Hawaii, shopping and packing for evening wear is probably the hardest thing I’ve come across. We all know what to bring to a hot destination: shorts, tank tops and bikinis. But what about when your heading out for a night on the town? It seems silly to get overdressed for your hotel’s Luau but you don’t want to wear your bikini at the dinner table. I found all clothing and accessory items here from Zara and Mango (aside from the Gladiator Jeffrey Campbell Sandals). Floral prints, whites, and pops of shimmer and color are keys to keeping yourself looking relaxed yet polished.
Printed Shorts – perfect to pair with your baggy tanks and tees you packed for the beach.
Boyfriend Jeans – keeps you looking casual and laid back but polished when paired with statement jewelry and silver sandals.
Infamous Gladiator Heel – Let’s be honest, Alexander Wang did us all a favor when these came out, luckily Jeffrey Campbell provides you with a more price pleasing alternative.
White Blouses – Perfect for those humid destinations, it keeps you protected from the sun and heat while maintaining your poise.
The best part about all of these pieces is that they can be mixed in with your daily wear. ALways remember the most important rule for vacations… don’t overpack!
There’s no doubt that jersey tops and tees are trending and I have been having the most difficult time finding one that was within my budget. I found a few from TopShop that really caught my eye but I wanted to go a more traditional route with a mesh jersey material versus a cotton tee. Cue H&M to come out with this amazing white mesh jersey top. I love its minimalism and colors! I paired it with my favorite thrifted acid wash Levi’s shorts and boyfriends thrifted plaid button up, tied around my waist of course. So glad I chose to shoot this look on the hottest day we have seen in weeks.
I can’t forget to mention these amazing new sunnies that ZeroUV graciously sent to me! They are definitely going to become my new staple shades for this summer. I highly recommend checking them out, they have such a wide range of styles for really really good prices.
H&M always catches me by surprise at the most random times. I went in looking for a mesh jersey top and came out with this acid washed print skater dress. This was one of those pieces that I didn’t have to contemplate buying. The length and fit are perfect for work and pairing it with my H&M leather jacket and GoJane booties let me add a little edge. I love skater dresses and their ability to make you feel sexy yet girly at the same time. I attribute it to the whole tight on top and flowy on bottom. I would highly recommend grabbing one for an evening out during the summer months.
I seem to go through phases in my wardrobe, lately I’ve leaned towards a more professional demeanor. Today I brought myself back to my grungy roots with my favorite army green jacket. I still maintained a girlish vibe with my new Zara glitter flats. I absolutely adore them and they are surprisingly the most comfortable flats I own.
It’s been a hectic week already but I managed to finally see The Great Gatsby. The costumes, sets and overall cinematography was astounding. Not to mention what great choices for actors and actresses, ahem, Leo. Really brings me back to my high school days. I brought out my Romeo and Juliet Couture dress I purchased from Crossroads Trading a few years back to help me channel the 1920s.
And when we all thought floral prints were out. I absolutely love the “Tommy Bahama” prints that have been circulating as of late. I have always been a huge fan of Hawaiian t-shirts (maybe because I am part Hawaiian?) and the automatic feeling of laying out on a beach when your wearing them. I get the same vibe from this skirt I purchased from Cotton On. Seemed to also match the 90 degree weather for the day. Time to plan a trip to somewhere tropic I’d say.
Printed pants have been on my mind and all over Tumblr as of late. It really gives a fun little kick to your work wardrobe. I have the difficult task of dressing according to certain guidelines at work. I was immediately attracted to these pants after a visit to H&M. For trousers they fit me perfectly, not too big and not too fitted (normally everything is oversized). The print gives a little edge without going off the path of “work appropriate”. For a more casual look I’d love to pair these pants with a fun neon tank once summer gets closer!
