Parisian Strappy Sandals & Trendy Bulky Sandals for Summer Vacation

May 2, 2019

Oh the Parisian lifestyle we so idealize. I mean in many ways it’s absolutely perfect from what I see on IG and while I can’t fully say it’s like that, I have a feeling that, it’s LIKE THAT. Aside from how effortless, feminine, and overall chic Parisian Women dress they have nailed this one thing that I absolutely am in love with…the perfect summer strappy sandals. Not only do they make your feet look phenomenal but they seem to elongate your legs and add a lot of femininity to any look.

Strappy sandals aren’t new to anyone if you’ve been online for the past year you’ve noticed a few heavy hitters have come into the market. The Row created one of the years favorites which I’m sure many of you know (and has been knocked off numerous times already.) A pair by Zara that almost every blogger in LA has (I was also very close to purchasing), as well as one of my favorite pairs that came out last year by Intentionally Blank. Now while strappy sandals are what I immediately think of for Spring/Summer, there are a ton of cool, new sandals (and sandals trends) out there that might surprise a few of you.

What I’m talking about is the “bulky sandal” trend. We’ve seen it on runways and in editorial magazines but it’s becoming a lot more mainstream. We’re talking basically taking Birkenstocks and adding platforms to them. While sandals are supposed to be the “lesser” material shoe that is traditionally worn in summer, this new style wave seems to heavily contradict that. We first saw this come into play with Chanel and Louis Vuitton but now a lot of smaller brands are grabbing hold. Some of them you might have seen are by Vagabond, brands like Zara also carry these styles as well as the ultimate in bulky sandals, Dr. Martens.

Needless to say there are a ton of great ways to wear both. Both can be worn in feminine ways and both in masculine. For example, strappy sandals can be worn with an oversized suit to give a little femininity to the feet while also being worn with a playful ‘slips off the shoulder’ summer dress and a basket bag. The same goes for the bulky sandal trend, pairing them with a dainty printed mini dress and tiny handbag is the perfect feminine look while throwing on a pair of oversized denim and t-shirt has the same amount of “cool girl” effect as the latter.

Either way, strappy sandals and bulky sandals are both on their way to being included in everyones summer vacation and I think there are ways to successfully incorporate both into a multitude of looks.
