Grabbed a quick shot of this look over the weekend. It’s finally been warming up so this asymmetric denim skirt from BlankNYC could come out and play. I’ve been interested in the comeback of the denim skirt but hadn’t been able to really commit to purchasing what to me was the American Eagle destroyed mini skirts that haunted me in high school (I’m sure you all agree). When I saw this particular number I knew it would fit the bill for a) uniqueness, um raw and asymmetric hem anyone? anyone? b) length, when working an office 9-5 job you have to at least TRY and maintain dress code. c) satisfied my hunger for a denim skirt, hello Canadian tux…skirt edition.

Even my fiance was doubtful of my purchasing, when noted “I think I want to get a denim skirt” his response “ew”. I guess we are all haunted by those high school Hollister days. Luckily style, as it has always been in my eyes, is completely relative to what you make of it. Pairing this skirt with an oversized button up, some black booties, my favorite flat top boater hat and some deep purple lips can really make it into something else. (no polo shirts here).

On a side note I hope I’m not boring you too much with my subtle backdrops, while it really looks good aesthetically to be honest I just don’t have the time to really location scout. I’m graced with living next to some cool industrial buildings that have some unique looking walls, not to mention around 6pm when I get home from work, the best lighting of your life.
