Denim for awhile, was my worst enemy. Something about being constrained in pants wasn’t my cup of tea. After a year or so of wearing “jeggings” and tights with shorts, skirts, and dresses something finally clicked bringing me back into my love for jeans. These Articles of Society denim have a great universal wash, enough spandex to wear when lounging around, and they are nice and soft. I styled them with my favorite tee at the moment (Dicaprio FTW) and my New Balance kicks to give a very casual look perfect for running around in..literally. I’d recommend grabbing a pair of these babies, they have some great cuts and washes and are at an incredibly reasonable price. Styling denim has become a lot more fun and having a cool pair of sneakers really makes a difference in getting the perfect athletic yet stylish look.
Spent a really really….really warm February Sunday out in the Arts District in DTLA this past weekend. I must say I’m accustomed to the fashion district as well as Melrose all too well but this was an incredibly quiet and peaceful trip in comparison. Spent the day coffee and food hopping while grabbing a few blog photos in between. Being used to the struggles of LA parking we decided to walk everywhere which wouldn’t have been an issue in 70 degree weather but the warm 82 degree day was a little much, not to mention no one really told me the Arts district actually HAS street parking readily available to you.
Knowing it would be a tad on the warm side I decided to finally wear my new lace insert cami from Tobi. I’ve been searching for the perfect lace lingerie style cami to pair with some of my boyfriend jeans this spring and this was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I love the feminine lace touch on the top so I decided to pair it with a few masculine pieces that include a pair of trousers and my New Balance kicks. As you know I’m a huge fan of Athleisure styling which I think adds a fun touch to toning down a dressed up look. Not to mention it makes it really easy to walk around town searching for coffee and pastries. Luckily the entire look was incredibly comfortable since the trousers have a loose fit on top and are fitted towards the bottom.
Let’s all take a minute to give thanks go the fashion gods for bringing some 70s fashion back into modern times. As with all trends, they usually are just reestablished trends from the past, but with some upgrades. I have a feeling my spring wardrobe will consist of suede minis, gladiator sandals, knee high boots, denim mini dresses, and plenty of subtle fringe accents. My spring trend color palette will also consist of khaki, army green, white, dark denim, and of course brown. My take on this trend: a mix of 70s textures and patterns but with a mod twist (short hemlines, clean lines, etc) Shop my picks above!
Check Point Coat – Tobi | Boyfriend Jeans – Guess(Similar) | Pointed Stud Flats – Zara
Feeling like a true 90s baby with my new Tobi Check Point Coat, which goes perfectly with my recent accumulation of minimalistic pieces. Statement coats are one of my favorite items to splurge on. Since I have a ton of jeans (mom jeans for that matter) and basic tops it makes it easy for an outfit to pop when I’m struggling to get dressed on early mornings. This one is especially comfy and not to mention it is light enough to wear during cool Spring days. I can’t wait to pair this with a simple shift dress when the weather warms up. (you can probably expect this in a future post)
I make it a note to accessorize with statement coats and shoes when I’m in a rush to get ready in the morning. The easiest outfit to put together is a pair of denim, basic top and a statement jacket and shoes. Lately I’ve been having trouble waking up in the morning for work so I’m more than happy to share my easy and fun way of dressing. Not to mention these shoes are killer, who doesn’t like a pointed loafer with studs? Stay tuned for a few additional Tobi posts with some amazing Spring pieces. Can’t wait to show you! Happy Shopping!
Here in Orange County the weather is being bipolar as usual. One day its high 70s low 80s and the next its in the 60s. I suppose I can’t complain, it allows me to bust out my new babies, these thrifted Guess Jeans styled with my taupe oversized Turtleneck Sweater from H&M (on major sale, shoutout to my sister). Anytime I pair two oversized pieces I love to add some length and slim down my legs with cute heels. I also had to cuff this particular pair of jeans and decided that with the tapered leg I could scrunch them up a tad to also help elongate my legs. It’s been awhile since I’ve omitted from wearing all black but it felt right on such a sunny and cool day. This turtleneck sweater is the perfect combination of a thick knit with subtle detailing which includes a rad asymmetrical hemline. I also found these vintage Guess jeans for a score at GoodWill, by vintage I most likely am referring to the 90s but hey nowadays these “mom jeans” would be considered vintage (also a man repeller).
Side note: I have been living in this reversible tote bag lately from Nordstrom. I love being able to flip it to either brown or black (depending on my outfit and mood). I’m unfortunately that girl who has literally EVERYTHING in her bag, but on the off chance that you need eyedrops, bandaids, allergy medicine, etc, I got you covered!
