Mango Street Fashion

I have created a list of sorts for things I must purchase for this coming fall. The list includes: loafers, cropped grey sweater, plaid shirt, plaid pants, leather skater skirt, and knee high boots. This outfit has crossed 3 off the list. I went into Mango this past weekend to purchase this plaid tank and walked out with this cropped sweater as well. I can’t wait to pair this with leather pants/skirts and my boyfriend jeans! Their new collection is insane, I wish I could have purchased more but luckily I have some self control… well…at least a tad.

I paired this look with shorts since it’s still pretty warm here in So Cal. A girl can dream about fall though right?

Fall Transition

It’s starting to fell a lot like…fall? Well lately in Southern California we have been having some cooler weather and I must say it is incredibly refreshing. I picked up this outfit at H&M the other day. I saw the forest green color of this skirt and just had to have it! Not to mention I am a sucker for high collared tees/sweaters, this one will go perfect with a multitude of my boyfriend jeans and skirts this fall. I felt my new Phillip Lim for Target mustard colored bag would be perfect with the green and I must say it did not disappoint! When it starts to cool down even more I can definitely see this skirt being paired with some over the knee socks.

The Platrane Boot

So the past week/weekend has been a whirlwind. For those of you who don’t know, I work for a non-profit organization and was whisked away to Edmonton Canada to assist during a large conference, hence for the lack of posting. Unfortunately we had a “uniform” to wear throughout my stay so I have been itching to get back into the blogging game. This is a quick post of my back-to-work outfit featuring my Jeffrey Campbell Platrane Boots. I can’t wait for fall, I am already preparing for high collared tops, navy blues, forest greens with some pastels mixed in.

I also picked up this new pair of RAEN Optics sunnies after my favorite pair broke on me :( I must say they are really great quality and I love the rounded shape! Be sure to check out all of their rad pairs.

Monogram Chic

It has been super hectic this week due to Phillip Lim for Target coming out but also because I have been prepping for a work conference in Canada that I am attending. Through all the stress and nerves I was really happy to have this monogramed necklace finally arrive in the mail! This was a gift from the fine individuals at MMN (My Monogram Necklace). It paired really nicely with my new tote and my cat eye sunnies. I decided to go with SEA as my initials even though technically my initials are SEH. Reasons for doing this, 1) Nick’s last initial is A and well, I love him. 2) It spells out SEA and who wouldn’t want that? Definitely check out their stuff, I can see these as perfect birthday or holiday gifts. My mom liked the necklace so much she has already ordered her own!

Phillip Lim for Target

It has finally arrived, the anticipated Phillip Lim for Target collection and I am happy to say I grabbed 2 amazing pieces! This was my first experience waiting for one of the Target Designer Collaborations and some anticipated it to be close to that of the Black Friday shenanigans. Luckily my mother and I arrived at 6 am and our Target was a ghost town. We set up our chairs and chatted until about 7:15 when another mother-daughter pair showed up. In total right when the clock struck 8 am there were about 12 of us and it was enough to wipe out all handbags and about 80% of the clothing selection. I am really impressed with the quality and the design of the pieces and it was well worth the two hour wait. On a side note, people are really thirsty for these designer pieces so I hope everyone had a safe attempt at getting their bags because the claws sure do come out when something is within a “limited collection”.

Back in Black

The overcast weather in So Cal is making it a lot easier for me to start dressing for fall. Granted it gets up to 80 degrees during the day, I’m safe and sound inside my ice box of an office. After seeing tons of bloggers rocking the lace up Zara heels at Fashion Week I quickly remembered I had purchased some MIA lace up wedges years ago that look almost identical. I have pushed aside this pair for quite sometime, my last memory of them was far from positive, more like cringing from how uncomfortable my feet felt. When I slipped them on this morning I realized that I must have been a major cry baby back in the day because these are actually incredibly comfortable for heels (minus the “breaking in” blisters that are forming).

DIY Kimono

I’m really getting tired of this monotonous white background so I will keep this post short for now. Just wanted to show all of you my new kimono that my sister helped me make! (granted she did 90% of it) My sister is the “seamstress” of the family and with her moving away in a month I wanted to start taking in a few lessons and pointers for when I have the urge to be creative. I have been eyeing a few kimonos from Arnhem Clothing along with some other designers but I wasn’t very comfortable paying such a high amount for them. (too many other things higher on my “to buy” list). One trip to LA and a couple hours of work and voila!

I will be posting some higher quality pictures of it this weekend so stay tuned!

The Slinky Romper

I always dreamt of the day where slinky nighties were accepted outside of the bedroom. As most, I was in love with the Stone Cold Fox rose romper which looks incredibly similar to this one I am wearing. However, the price tag just wasn’t working for me. Plus, not having tried it on I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make such a big commitment. I found this amazing replica on 2020ave and knew I had to have it. While the pictures might not pick it up, this piece is more of a peachy color than white. I think it went well enough with my skin tone for me to pull it off. I wasn’t nearly as impressed with what it looked like on the website but once I put it on I knew I made the right decision.

Although it appears to be a summer piece I will definitely be pulling this for fall, pairing it with a leather jacket for a fun evening of seafood and walks on the beach. Cheers!

NYFW Favorites

Opening Ceremony (Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear)

I’ve currently been lusting over my computer and Instagram at all of the beautiful pieces being shown during NYFW. I love seeing all the Ready To Wear items, it really gives me hope that one day I might be able to grab a few of these gorgeous pieces for myself. My favorite shows thus far have been BCBG Max Azria, Alice + Olivia, Alexander Wang, & Opening Ceremony.

Dreamy pastel fabrics draped delicately over one another, starched wide shoulder’d sweaters & blouses mixed in with the edge of leather pieces are what make me excited for Spring 14′. Not to mention all white everything and cropped tops are still completely accepted. BCBG by far has to be my favorite, I love the subtle mesh & floral inserts they have snuck into the hemlines of their dresses and throughout their printed pants. What were your favorite shows thus far?

Plaid & Leather

These are a few of my favorite things. I have been looking for the perfect pair of pants for over 2 years now. The requirements included: leather look, zippered ankles, and a laced tie waist weren’t coming to me as easily as I had hoped. These Zara Skinny Trousers with Coated Seams met all requirements, for those of you concerned with the seemingly tight fit of these there is an immense amount of stretch in them so they are a lot more comfortable than they look. Definitely look towards tons of subtle plaids and leathers mixed in this fall!
